Full moon helicopter patrol

July 2021
Supporting anti poaching

Two hours of helicopter time were sponsored in July to assist with NVG (night vision goggle) patrol flights over full moon, in the Manyeleti Game Reserve. Full moon is a high incident period for wildlife reserves - poachers can move through the wilderness at night but good light cast from the moon makes it easier for them to hunt. Rhino poaching incidents specifically spike over full moon periods so being able to deploy a helicopter to conduct patrol flights is vitally important - it puts eyes in the sky but importantly makes the poachers below know they are being watched and acts as a deterrant.

Thanks to Jana from Hope for Wildlife Helicopters for conducting this anti poaching flight.
