Elephant Monitoring & Beehive Donation

December 2022
Conservation safari at its best!

We absolutely love it when travellers are set on contributing as much as they can to conservation work on the ground! WWW traveller Julie donated towards a monitoring mission, as well as a beehive to support Elephants Alive's research into human-wildlife conflict. Julie is a longstanding supporter of conservationists in Hoedspruit and, together with Wild Wonderful World CEO Michelle, got the opportunity to join Elephants Alive on a collaring mission on her most recent trip. The Phalaborwa mine attracts lots of elephants because of the high phosphor content in the soil. The matriarch of a herd that moves in and out of the mine area was collared to monitor her movements and to better understand how and why they are choosing to make their home in a human-created mine.

Thank you to Elephants Alive for letting us join in on this mission, we love working with you and supporting your incredibly valuable research!
